The Financial Intelligence Agency’s role regarding the Financial Intelligence Act

The Financial Intelligence Agency requests, receives, analyses and disseminates information on financial disclosures on suspicious transactions to law enforcement agencies, Supervisory Authorities and Comparable Bodies.

The Agency is also the secretariat of the National Coordinating Committee on Financial Intelligence (NCCFI). The committee is the national policy making body for combating financial offences.

The Agency shall be the only body in Botswana to seek membership into the Egmont group - a grouping of Financial Intelligence Units - to exchange financial intelligence information on the basis of reciprocity and mutual agreement.
