Commencement of FI Act

Commencement of specified sections of the Financial Intelligence Act of 2009

On the 5th of March 2010, the Government gazetted the commencement of specified sections of the Financial Intelligence Act No.6 of 2009 (PDF). Thus the following sections were commenced:

Part I           Preliminary

Section 1:     Short title and commencement
Section 2:     Interpretation

Part II          Establishment of Financial Intelligence Agency

Section 3:     Establishment of Agency
Section 4:     Functions of Agency
Section 5:     Security Screening of Director

Part III         National Coordinating Committee on Financial Intelligence 

Section 6:     Establishment of National Coordinating Committee on Financial Intelligence
Section 7:     Functions of the Committee
Section 8:     Meetings of Committee.

Part VII         General Provisions

Section 34:   Confidentiality by Director
Section 35:   Declaration of Assets by Director
Section 36:   Indemnity of Director, etc.
Section 40:   Regulations
